Summary

For a long time, most Christians were unable to read and write. Therefore, they came to know and understand their faith through art. Painting, sculptures and stained glass played a key role in teaching the Faith, and this is true when it comes to Mary. All month we are discussing Marian titles and this week we turn to art and look at the various ways Mary is depicted, the titles attached to these depictions, and what we can learn from these titles.
