Summary

What did the Early Church think about Mary? A WHOLE LOT! They loved her, honored her and gave her several important titles. May is Mary's Month and all month we will be discussing Mary's titles. These titles will not only help us understand her better, but allow us to see the role she played in Salvation History and the relationship we can have with her today. This week we are exploring the many titles give to Mary by the Early Church.

0:30.2	Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Friday, May 17th, 2020. This week we are talking about titles of Mary that she received long ago in the early church. We have talked about Mary as the
0:37.3	New Eve, Mary, help New Eve, Mary help of Christians,
0:40.7	Mary Star of the Sea, Mary as Our Lady. And today we are going to talk about Mary as the new
0:48.2	Ark of the Covenant. So we're going all the way back to the Old Testament to see some really cool connections.

1:34.6	So Mary as the Ark of the Covenant. Now before we talk about Mary, we need to review what the Ark of the Covenant is. So if we go back to the Old Testament,
1:42.8	to the person of Moses, we remember that through Moses,
1:49.8	God worked directly and powerfully. Incredible things happened. Through Moses, God sent plagues to Egypt. The slaves were free. They passed through the Red Sea
2:05.1	on dry land. They survived 40 years wandering around in the desert. And then they were brought
2:12.3	into the promised land. All of these things happened. And in an incredibly remarkable way, these people were
2:22.4	allowed to see God at work, tangibly see him at work, to see the pillar of fire, to watch
2:30.3	him separate the Red Sea, to see the Ten Commandments carved into stone with the very
2:37.5	hand of God. This is an incredibly important part of the Bible. And so when all of this happened,
2:46.0	the Israelites were still sort of a wandering people. This is long before the temple was built, and yet they
2:53.0	wanted, they needed a place to worship. So God commanded Moses to create a tabernacle that was
