Summary

What did the Early Church think about Mary? A WHOLE LOT! They loved her, honored her and gave her several important titles. May is Mary's Month and all month we will be discussing Mary's titles. These titles will not only help us understand her better, but allow us to see the role she played in Salvation History and the relationship we can have with her today. This week we are exploring the many titles give to Mary by the Early Church.

0:30.8	Hey there, sprouts. Today is Thursday, May 16th, 20204. Today is also the feast day of St. Simon Stock. St. Simon Stock is an Englishman, and he was one of the first leaders of the Carmelite order once it was
0:39.2	established in England. It was also to St. Simon Stock, the tradition tells us, Mary appeared,
0:47.3	and gave the scapular. Now, the scapular is a small piece, a small garment worn around the neck.
0:57.3	If you are a religious, it's a large piece of fabric that runs down your front and your back.
1:03.6	If you're not religious, then it's a thread that attaches a small piece of fabric on the front and the back.
1:10.3	And it came with all of these wonderful promises of Mary's protection
1:14.5	and her dedication to be near and to guide Christians who wear the scapular.
