Summary

It's the third week of Advent (and time to light the pink candle!). Join us as we discuss joy this week.

+ MONDAY: The pink candle in our Advent wreaths is also known as the Shepherd's Candle. Find out why this is fitting.

+ TUESDAY: Joy is not quite a virtue--instead it is a FRUIT of living the virtues.

+ WEDNESDAY: God created us to be happy...but what is true happiness (joy)?

+ THURSDAY: The opposite of joy is selfish sadness. Why does focusing on others (and not myself) lead to joy?

+ FRIDAY: We are so close to Christmas! Today you are challenged to stop thinking about what you are "getting" and instead spend time thinking about how you can be a "giver" instead.

ANNOUNCEMENT: There will be no new episodes of the podcast next week! See you after the New Year!

Hey there, Spouts. Today is Monday, December 18th, 2023. Today we also celebrate the memory of many heroic martyrs in the nation of Vietnam. And in general, how many heroic people in Asia died so that they could worship

Jesus Christ. Now, it's this week we are talking about the virtue attached to the third week of

which we are learning this month in the Be a Saint Kids Club.

God of love, your son, Jesus, is your greatest gift to us.

1:10.3

He is a sign of your love.

1:12.5

Help us walk in that love during the weeks of Advent as we wait and prepare for his coming.

1:19.0

We pray in the name of Jesus, our Savior. Amen.

1:23.5

Well, as you might already know, the third week of Advent is sort of fun because we aren't

1:30.5

lighting just another purple candle. We are lighting the pink candle. Also, as you might know,

1:37.1

colors are meaningful in the Catholic faith. The priest wears different colors based on the

1:44.0

liturgical season. And if you went to a

1:47.9

parish like I did this Sunday, you got to see your priest wear pink. So he was matching the

1:54.1

Advent candle. So why all the pink? Well, it is to remind us that this is a different kind of Sunday, just like we have a pink

2:03.1

Sunday in Lent. We have a pink Sunday in Advent. And it is to help us as we continue to wait,

2:10.4

as we continue to do the work of Advent, a reminder that even now we are called to rejoice.

2:18.7

In fact, the third Sunday of Advent, which we just celebrated, is called Gaudaute Sunday, which means rejoice.
