Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Monday, January 9th, 2022. This week on the Catholic Sprouts, we are going to be talking about how to be holy when our lives are ordinary, hidden, boring, or might feel unimportant.

But before we get to that, let's work on memorizing the verses as St. Andre Beset, our patron

for the month, is challenging us to memorize from the book of Deuteronomy chapter six verses four through nine

in the name of the father and the son and the holy spirit amen here o israel the lord is your god

the lord is one and you shall love the lord your god with all your heart and with all your soul

and with all your strength.

These words which I am commanding you today shall be on your heart, and you shall repeat them

diligently to your sons and speak of them when you sit in your house, when you walk on the road,

when you lie down, and when you get up. Amen.

Now, as you remember, those words were written, were spoken by Moses,

way back after he had led God's people out of Egypt into the promised land,

and they summarize our faith, that God is one, that He is the only God, and that in order to be saints, we must give our whole minds, our whole heart, strength, soul to God and to God alone.

Now, to do those things is to be a saint, and that is what we are striving to become.

But maybe you read the stories of saints that were kings and knights. They were missionaries and

martyrs, and they lived in really fantastically different times and lived wildly different lives

than you live. And maybe you look around as your own life and you think, well, my life is too

ordinary. It's too boring for me to be a saint. I'll never be called to do those incredible things. So maybe I'm not

meant to be a saint. Well, if you've ever felt that way, I'm here to tell you that you are wrong.

We are all called to be saints. And many, many of the saints that we have interceding for us in

heaven right now, they actually lived ordinary, boring lives. And they proved to us that God

calls us to be holy in the ordinary, in the hidden, even in the boring,
