Hey there, Sprouts. Today is Fri November 29th, 2020. We are, of course, in the first week of the season of Advent. And this week we are talking about the gift of fortitude, a supernatural gift that comes from the Holy Spirit and allows us to have courage and to persevere in the face of hardship in a way that is truly supernatural, a way that goes beyond what we are capable of as human beings.

Today we are going to talk about the profound fortitude of our patron saint this month in the B.S. St. Kids Club, St. Martin

DePoris. But before we get there, we are going to live out fortitude by remembering it's still

November. We still have to pray for the dead,

and we are still working to memorize our prayer for the dead. So if you will join me.

In the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, amen. In your hands,

O Lord, we humbly entrust our brothers and sisters. In this life, you embrace them

with your tender love. Deliver them now from every evil and bid them eternal rest. The old order

has passed away. Welcome them into paradise where there will be no sorrow, no weeping or pain,

but fullness of peace and joy with your son and the Holy Spirit forever and ever. Amen.

So, Saint Martin de Porras, he had his feast day way at the beginning of the month.

So in case you have forgotten,

here is a quick biography of this incredible saint. So St. Martin lived in Lima, Peru, which is in

South America. His mother was a freed African slave, and his father was a wealthy Spanish nobleman.

So he was of mixed race.

Now, at the time in Lima, Peru,

this meant that he was an outsider,

that he wasn't accepted by either group,

by the freed slaves,

or especially by the Spanish nobility.
