Hey there, Spouts. Today is Wednesday, September 7th, 2020. This week we are talking about the Eucharist with our friend, Blessed Carlo Akutus in heaven, because as he said, the Eucharist is our highway to heaven. We've already talked about historical roots of the Eucharist in the Passover. We've talked about the story of feeding

the 5,000 and what Jesus said in John's Gospel chapter 6 about how his body and blood are real food and drink.

And today we're going to talk about something that probably comes to mind right away when we

think about the sacrifice of the Mass, and that is the last supper.

Before we do that, let's pray together the prayer that Carlo is challenging us to pray and memorize this month, the morning offering.

In the name of the Father, Son, Holy Spirit, amen.

O Jesus, through the Immaculate Heart of Mary, I offer you my prayers, works, joys, and sufferings of this day.

For all the intentions of your sacred heart and union with the holy sacrifice of the Mass throughout the world, for the salvation

of souls, the reparation of sins, the reunion of all Christians, and in particular for the

intentions of the Holy Father this month. Amen.

All right. Let's talk about the Eucharist and the Last Supper. Again, there is so, so much that we could dig into here, but we're going to talk just briefly today about the connection between the Last Supper and Holy Mass, which we attend

at least once a week. So as you probably know, there are a lot of similarities. In fact,

what Jesus said while he was seated in that upper room with his disciples, a lot of those same words,

the priest says again.

The priest says those exact words, they were recorded by men that were there in that room.

They were shared.

They were written down by St. Paul.

And they have been recited by our church in an unbroken line ever since then.

Now, one thing that we need to remember is that a priest has set himself aside for this holy

work, for this vocation, but each time when we are at Mass, the priest that actually does the miracle we witness,

where bread and wine, ordinary bread and wine, are utterly changed into the body and blood of Jesus Christ.
