My name is Sir Roland Paterlot, and you're listening to Saturdays with Sir Roland on Catholic Sprouts where every Saturday we discuss the art of dragon slain.

Today, we begin our series

on the Ten Commandments by discussing the First Commandment, which is, I am the Lord your God,

and you shall have no other gods besides me. Jesus builds on the positive form of this commandment

by reaffirming the greatest commandment to love God with all of your heart, all of your mind,

and all of your strength. This commandment is all about loving God as he alone deserves to be loved.

In fact, this is the very reason you were created to know, love, and serve the one true God.

We were made to worship God. For those of you who own the Dragon Sairs Manual by Survivor and Pugelist,

this week I want you to study and pay careful attention to two of the dragons when it comes to the First Commandment.

Braggin and Slack Bottom.

Slackbottom is the dragon of laziness, and worshiping God requires our effort, our passion, our zeal.

Worship is not about going through motions and empty rituals.

It's about love, which is passionate and mindful and heartfelt. It means praying to God,

not because we're obligated to mindlessly rattle off memorized words, but because we love to talk to

him, and we want to know his will and do it. Now, Bragon is the dragon of arrogance.

He's a dangerous dragon because he wants you to convince you that you don't need God or

anybody else.

He wants you to believe that you don't need commandments, that you can decide for yourself

what is good and evil and right and wrong.
