I might be on one today. Maybe not, but no, let me take the temperature of my emotions. No, definitely, definitely going to be on one. Y'all remember how a whole lot of people in 2016 was like, don't vote for that lady. That was Hillary Clinton, not the lady y'all didn't want to vote for, not y'all but you know y'all's cousins and them folk but you remember in 2016 Hillary

Clinton was running for office and and people were like we ain't lady y'all didn't want to vote for not y'all but you know y'all's cousins and them folk but you remember

in 2016 Hillary Clinton was running for office and and people were like we ain't going to vote for her

because she called black people super predators in the 80s and the 90s maybe it was just the 90s

I grew up in the 80s and the 90s so I actually remember Hillary Clinton's super predator moment

I remember how it sort of captured the zeit guys. And I remembered that lines of

conversation like that and conversation about Joe Biden's 1994 crime bill support and how that was

what helped to contribute to the prison industrial complex explosion, which is not necessarily false.

But we often forget that there was a lot of black people in political leadership and religious Christian churches who were requesting and demanding that crime bill to be passed.

What really black people wanted was resources to help prevent crime. We wanted the sorts of

resources that a lot of black mayors like Mayor Brandon Scott out of Baltimore or Mayor Brandon

Johnson, or even in New York City when we were looking at

producing reports in some of the advocacy work that I was doing that talked about all of the

benefits that come from investing in crime prevention, like violence interrupter programs,

like ensuring that young people have a safe place to play after school.

You know, like how white kids get.

When they get safe places to play, imagine how much wonderful our lives would be if our kids didn't have to just play on a stoop in front of day blocks where some things might happen that are not necessarily going to be in their best interest because of the way poverty is structured in our society. But I remember a whole lot of people in 2016 said they were not going to vote for Hillary Clinton because of the crime bill. They said they weren't going to vote for Joe Biden in 2020 because of the crime bill and the

super predator commentary, yada, yada, yada, yada, yada, yada.
