About a decade ago, I attended this conference in Portugal as a business reporter.

Now the conference was for founders of Silicon Valley's

fuzzy startups.

The really notable companies, ones you've probably heard of. the really

being wind and the and all those significant founders were there.

They were really being wind and dined.

I remember the conference invited an artist to create a piece of work for everyone to take home and he did he created this beautiful photograph

It was of a barrel of oil Because what the artist was trying to convey there, which by the way went over the heads of all the founders, I think, was that sometimes when we invent things, what we think in the moment is going to be marvelous, well it actually comes back to destroy us.

I mean, think about what we all imagined when oil came onto the scene and think about the reality.

So in that moment with all those internet companies, nobody was willing to entertain the idea

that there was maybe a problem here.

Fast forward 10 years and we are living with the benefits of the booming internet age, sure,
