I thought I would answer patron emails. This email is from upper tier patron Lex from Olympia.

They write, my name is Lex and I'm currently an undergrad student about to graduate.

I've felt a strong calling into becoming a therapist

or any role where I can become a resource for people who want to work on their healing.

This is mainly from my own experiences of trauma and healing.

Sometimes though I feel like I might not be up for the job because my emotions tend to get

very affected by the many injustices I see in people's lives, especially as I see them related to my own.

I also worry about being overwhelmed about the things going on in my own life

that it would affect my ability to fully serve the clients

and communities in the ways that they need to be served. I was wondering if you

had any tips for building resilience around burnout or compassion fatigue or navigating

Yeah, I get a lot of emails like this and I've answered emails like this on the podcast before

but I think it bears repeating because I think that there's a lot of people out there who would relate to you, Lex.

So you say that you get upset about the many injustices that you see, well that is not a weakness, that is a strength.

The clients need us to get upset about injustice. I have had multiple clients say to me

that it was very helpful for them to see me get upset, get angry, get personally angry about the injustices that they experience.

occasionally hear me rant and rave about injustice I'm guessing that it is either in line with how your thinking or

changes your mind in some ways or something but it probably is

welcomed right I welcome when people rant and rave about injustice

because that's the only way we're going to get things to change and it just feels good to vent about injustice.
