I was going through some thoughts and ideas and strategies with a new client in the

consistency course and she was saying that one of her common excuses is

that she shouldn't even try because it's probably not possible and every time

before she just quits so what's the point and I told her that what she's doing is

limiting the range of possible future outcomes to her subset of past

behaviors. Imagine if you told your kids that the only thing that is possible for

them moving forward are things that they've

done before.

I mean that would be crazy right you have to immediately know that that's silly and

that's untrue but that is what happens when we say something like, well, it's

the way I've always been, or I always do it this way, or it never works out for me, or I

always give up, or I always give in, or I never stick with it long term. You are saying the only thing that's

possible moving forward is limited to the range of experiences I've had

before.
