Hello, everybody. Welcome back to the Primal Potential podcast and our consistency 365

0:06.7

series. I am Elizabeth Benton. Hope you're having a great day today. Thanks for spending

0:10.5

a little bit of it with me. One of the big reasons that we don't make progress is because

0:16.7

we have these excuses that in the moment feel really true and feel really well intended.

0:21.3

Like I'm going to get it out of my system today and I'll start again tomorrow. You're

0:25.4

not saying, I don't care about my goals. You're not saying, I don't even want to get there.

0:31.1

You're saying tomorrow. I really mean it. Tomorrow is going to be different. What I want

0:37.6

you to keep in mind about your excuses is that an excuse promises permanence. For as long

0:48.1

as you're saying, I'll start tomorrow. I'll start tomorrow. You're saying, I'm going to

0:52.7

keep up with this pattern. You're saying, this is the way things are going to be because

0:57.8

this is what I'm choosing for today. This is the way things are going to be an excuse

1:02.1

promises permanence. You can bet that if you say, I'll start tomorrow, you're going

1:07.3

to keep saying, I'll start tomorrow because an excuse promises permanence. If you say,

1:14.6

I'm too tired. You are telling yourself, I am willing to put it off every time I'm

1:22.6

tired. And if you know yourself and if you're being honest, you're going to be tired a

1:26.8

lot, especially if you have kids. If I'm tired is a reason to not have the healthy

1:34.8

meal or to not get the workout in, then you are saying, I'm just not going to be somebody

1:40.8

who works out. I'm not going to be somebody who eats healthy because an excuse promises

1:45.5

permanence. There's always something you can do. There's always a small step that you

1:52.9

can take. So instead of the excuse, instead of the I'm too tired, instead of the I'll start

1:57.3

tomorrow, look for the small thing that you are willing to do today and let that be the

2:05.3

focus, not the all or nothing excuse making that puts off the entire day or the entire meal.
