On today’s podcast I’ve got a rockstar turned pastor, none other than Mattie Montgomery! We talked about how he started his band at a young age, toured the world, sold millions of copies, only to give it up and open up his own church. Along with that we talked about sometimes, in order to reach the next phase of your life, you have to be patient and wait. So many people try and get impatient, try to force things, and promote their own agenda. It was cool to hear his story of waiting and going through all that he did. I can relate to that as well with so many things that have happened in my life, just waiting for the call. We touched on his relationship with Derek Carr, who was also recently on the podcast, and how they started this giant conference that’s coming to Las Vegas. I met Maddie Montgomery at a conference the day before we filmed this and just had to have him on the podcast!

Mattie joined a band in 2007 and the band became very famous! He was able to travel the entire planet to play his music for all. The band sold millions of records world wide as well. His band was a Christian metal band and was able to spread the gospel worldwide. Because of the music they played, the band was invited to travel with all kinds of musicians and played in all kinds of places. He retired in 2016 with his farewell tour.

After his farewell tour, he spent time at home and helped his wife run the house. He was invited to speaking events and continued to travel the world to preach. Mattie Montgomery heard his call and decided to start a church. He and his family launched their church in Tennessee and it’s been a huge success!

Mattie Montgomery met Derek Carr when he was a college football quarterback. Derek Carr called Mattie at least once a week for nine years and kept Mattie as a mentor. Derek Carr told Mattie that he plays football for a living but his real passion is in ministry. Derek Carr and Mattie Montgomery are holding a men’s conference in Las Vegas!
