Summary

Romans 8:28-30 — Why does Christianity claim to be the only way of salvation? As Dr. Martyn Lloyd-Jones preaches this sermon from Romans 8:28-30 titled “Confirmed to Christ,” the gospel is a message of exclusivity that tells of salvation through Christ by His life, death, and resurrection. The teaching that all those who do not believe in the gospel in this life will be judged and condemned in the next is found throughout the Bible. Nevertheless, many fight and resist this teaching on the basis that it is narrow and unloving of God to condemn sinners to an eternity in hell. But, as Dr. Lloyd-Jones reminds the listener, all are in sin and under the condemnation and judgment of God on account of their unrighteousness and rebellion against Him. All have fallen in Adam who was the head of the whole human race. As the head of the new humanity, Christ died and conquered the grave so that all creation would be redeemed and made new. What was lost in Adam will be regained in Christ and more. It is only in Christ that people can become partakers of His blessings and become children of God. There is no salvation outside of Christ. This ought to compel all believers to proclaim the gospel to all who are lost and live in darkness.

of the saints, and we have come to the point at which we have seen that the greatest

guarantee of that, our final perseverance, and of our

ultimate, complete and entire salvation, is the fact that this is the purpose of God for us.

1:06.1

And as it is the purpose of God for us, as we are told, we are the called according to his purpose. As it is the purpose of God for us. As we are told, we are called according to His purpose.

1:12.8

As it is the purpose of God, well then there are certain things which we can say concerning

it which are of necessity too.

1:22.0

We've dealt therefore with this whole idea of God having a purpose, that salvation is God's purpose, that he planned it.

1:31.3

We saw that he planned it before the very foundation of the world itself.

1:36.3

We saw furthermore that it is something that is characterized by God himself,

this repetition of the He.

1:43.3

It is God who does it all, whom he did for know, he also did predestimate, and so on,

And then we ended by showing how, in the light of all this,

and all that we are told about God and his character and his nature, the

absolute certainty of the completion of this purpose is something concerning which there can be
