What's going on everyone? Welcome back to the Epic Gardening Podcast. Today's episode is about

composting leaves and specifically how do we make sure that we're doing it right and make sure

that our leaves decay quickly? So if you haven't gotten into

leaf composting yet this is going to be a perfect episode for you. You will learn

just about everything you want to know about how to properly compost leaves. Let's first talk about though why

would you why would you want to compost leaves? Well leaves are a fantastic source of

nutrients and minerals up to up in its leaves.

So they're kind of like nature's nutrient recyclers and by composting them you are getting those nutrients out of those leaves and

back into your soil so your plants can blossom.

Second good reason is that they're free for the most part.

If fall comes around, chances are really good.

You'll have a tunnel leaves lying around your home and just bothering you.

So you might as well compost them, right?

You might as well put them to use and if you don't

have trees in your yard you can just always ask a neighbor or a friend or a landscaping

company they'd be happy to give it to you for free. The final reason and the

most important reason is that leaves are very high in carbon, also known as browns for your compost.

So most compost you need a carbon nitrogen ratio of 30 to 50, which means you need 50 times as much carbon nitrogen ratio of 30 to 50, which means you need 50 times as

much carbon as you do nitrogen.

And sometimes it's hard to get that much carbon, but big huge piles of leaves that are high in carbon are a great way to

supplement. Now once you get started in leaf composting there's going to be two
