What is up everyone? Growers around the world. Today we're talking about

growing hydroponically outdoors on the Epic Gardening Podcast. I got a question and

the question is this, hey I want to try a couple of Dutch buckets outdoors.

It's warm enough to grow outside. I figured I would try it. What I'll do is I'll plant other tomatoes

in the dirt right next to the Dutch buckets.

Aside from just running a cool experiment, is there any actual reason I would want to grow

hydroponically outdoors when I can just plant in perfectly good soil?

This is a fantastic question. Most of the time when we grow

hydroponically we're doing it out of necessity. Because we are growing indoors, we have to

create an environment for our plants instead of just using the environment

outdoors for our plants. Now let's first talk about growing hydroponically

indoors versus outdoors. What are there going to be the major differences?

Well, the most obvious one is light.

Indoors, you pay for your light, both in electricity

and in the actual lighting fixtures themselves. And also in some time, it does take some time

to calibrate and work with your lighting indoors.

Outdoors, you have the best light source

that us human beings are ever going to find. It's the sun. You're

going to get an amazing spectrum provided you're growing in the right time of year.

You're going to have a good photo period or amount of light over the day and you don't have to deal with any

heat or venting issues like you would if you're growing in a confined space. So if everything else was equal, you would always grow hydroponically

outdoors because it's just better. The lighting source is just better. Even if
