Good morning and welcome to the Independent Republic of Mike Graham right here on Talk of Radio.

Let's start with the good news today, ladies and gentlemen. Early trials in the

search for a vaccine have been a success and there are now hopes that the two groups, one led

by the University of Oxford, right here in the UK of course, can press ahead with finding a

workable immunisation against the infection of COVID-19. It's still a little bit too early to say

that a vaccine can now be made available before the end of the year. But clearly, progress is being made more rapidly than anyone had hoped.

We'll be getting an expert view later on in the show.

On the bad news front, there is talk that the House of Commons could move to York,

which surely has to be one of the worst ideas anyone ever had.

The last thing we need is the extra cost, the cumbersome transfer of people and offices,

and the relocation of thousands of workers to another place simply because it is outside London,

and it might make a few people happy that not everything is centred in the capital city of this country.

What a waste of time and money it would be, especially since it's only a temporary measure,

while the Palace of Westminster is refurbished.

failing brailing to be the chair of the Intelligence and Security Committee. It was meant to be

a formality, but he was beaten to the job by Tory MP Julian Lewis, who's now had the whip taken

off him and he's been kicked out the parliamentary party.

He's another unfortunate chapter in the political career of a man who seems to keep landing

top jobs, despite being pretty useless at all of them.
