Well, hey everybody, and welcome to episode 97 of the podcast.

My name is Carrie Newhoff and I hope our time together today

helps you lead like never before.

A couple years ago, I started talking about burnout

because a decade ago, I burnt out. It was actually the summer of 2006 that things kind of unraveled and I've written about it and we've had podcasts about it so you can look at the archive or my blog for more information on that.

You know, it took a while, took a few years

to really feel whole again, but I've started speaking about it

to church leaders and groups.

And I, you know, when I first started speaking about it I thought I wonder how all

the younger leaders are going to hear this because I kind of thought well you know you

got to hit 40 to burn out or whatever and man oh man I remember the first time I gave the talk it was to about a

thousand leaders in Atlanta a number of years ago and oh my goodness like the number of

20 year olds 25 year olds 28 year olds who came up and said,

hey I know you said this is only for older leaders but like it's not, I'm burning out,

like my heart feels flat, etc and they showed sort of all the signs of

burnout and that just shocked me really did and I've got a friend who lives near

my house actually his His name's Grant, Grant Vissers, today's
