Good afternoon. Welcome along to Unbelievable, the weekly show that brings Christians and

non-Christians together for dialogue and debate, bringing conversations that matter from all over

the world. And it's a delight to be joined on today's show by a US and Australian voice, Luke Barnes

and Sean Carroll, my guests on today's

program. Today on Unbelievable, we're asking what is the best explanation of the universe, God or

naturalism. I'm really excited about today's show because two eminent physicists are joining me

on the program. We love doing these kinds of debates on Unbelievable. Luke Barnes joins

me. He's an astrophysicist researching at the Sydney Institute for Astronomy. He's a Christian,

believes that there are significant elements of our growing knowledge of cosmology that are

consistent with atheistic worldview. His recent book, A Fortunate Universe, Life in a Finely Tuned Cosmos,

was co-authored with atheist physicist

Geraint Lewis, and both authors agree on the so-called fine-tuning of the universe, but differ

on whether it offers evidence for a creator.

Sean Carroll is our other guest, joining us on the line from the state, sees a well-known cosmologist and research professor of physics at Caltech in the USA.

Sean is an atheist, his most recent book, The Big Picture on the Origins of Life, Meaning,

and the Universe itself sets out why he believes naturalism best explains the nature of the

universe we inhabit, as extraordinary and mysterious as it is.

And, well, rather suitably, he's got a similarly titled website to a fortunate universe.
