It is an honor to have sitting across from a person whose film Chacola, the real Chacala,

we should say, by the way, changed my life 31 years ago. Of course, we know her for films such as

Bolte Ravai, Vandre Swar, and her newest film is High Life. I'm speaking with the filmmaker

Claire Duned. It is a pleasure to have you here. Thank you so much. Before we get to High Life, talk to me about meeting Izakti Bancol the first time because he's

such an incredible actor. What was your first conversation with him like? Do you remember?

Oh, I met him before we start shooting. I gave him the script of Chocola. He was on stage in a

theater and he immediately said yes.

And as maybe my producer thought the part was not important and I could choose, pick up

anyone in Cameroon and not have an actor, you know.

So it was a little fight.

But in the end, we made it and I think Isaac since then has been a friend forever.

But he's such an incredible presence and I cannot imagine the film without him,

because he needs,

we need that presence to be felt

even when he's not on the screen, don't we?

He was the main character,

even without being a talkative one, you know?
