When the sympathetic nervous system is very quickly activated by a challenge or threat,

and it goes into overdrive, we call that very often panic attack.

For tonight I'm like I'm going to be addressing low levels of chronic sympathetic nervous

system activation. What that means is when your midbrain, a small

region of your midbrain, amygdala, which is part of the midbrain that gets all of the information that's coming in through

your senses.

There's a, literally a circuit that routes it in from the thalamus to your amygdala and it gets all the raw data

before you even realize what's going on, before you can name or really understand the situation, your

megal looks it over and it determines whether it spots

something that in the past was challenging difficult, emotionally painful,

or something that's novel or something that requires your attention. And then it initiates what's called first the

startle response and the startle response is very there's nothing wrong with a
