Summary

There’s something about Christmas that invites us to slow down, lean in, and do the same things every year on purpose. In this episode, I’m sharing the Christmas traditions our family can’t imagine the season without—the big ones, the small ones, and the ones that started on accident and somehow became sacred. We’re talking cozy mornings, childhood throwbacks, foods that instantly feel like home, and the little rhythms that anchor us when the season feels loud or rushed. Some of these traditions are joyful and playful, some are deeply meaningful, and all of them remind us that joy is often found in repetition—not perfection. If you’re craving ideas to make this season feel more grounded, more connected, or just more fun, this conversation is for you. Come borrow a tradition (or two), feel a little less pressure to do it all, and be reminded that the most memorable moments are usually the simplest ones. And today I'm so stoked to talk all about Christmas traditions.

0:54.9

Like what are the things that make Christmas a sweet Christmas to our family?

0:59.3

What are the things we do every year?

1:01.4

What are the things we're trying to do this year that we've loved and figured we could really just use like a fun little catch-up yap session?

1:08.4

So that's what this is going to be.

1:10.0

First off off you need

1:10.9

to know that this year i have ditched the like elegant neutral fancy christmas decor and i have gone

1:18.1

full mode pencil glitter dollar tree gold garland with amazon star garland i went to michael's Michaels on Black Friday and got like literally 12 rolls of ribbon

1:32.2

for, I'm pretty sure, $20. And ribbon and bows are everywhere in our house. I looked up a way of

1:38.9

making ribbons on TikTok with zip ties and it's changed the game. So that's what we're doing.

1:44.9

Normally our Christmas tree and our living groom is again like the fancy the fun and then this year it's

1:51.7

like tacky kitschy fun I'm looking at it right now and I'm trying to describe it it's got a big

1:57.4

bow at the top instead of an angel but don't worry the angel's still there she's still tucked's still tucked behind. Can't be sacrilegious. Like, she's going to still be on there. I just really wanted a bow in the front. And then we have, like, all that colorful, shiny, I mean, tacky, for lack of better words, ornaments that we've kind of collected. We get one for everybody every year that has a memory

2:19.5

attached to it and we've been collecting so much they don't really fit on our tree that we put in our

2:24.7

dining room so we do a real tree in our living room and then the fake flocks tree in the dining

2:30.6

room and so that one this year the fake flock tree is like the cutie patootie one and this one is like the tacky kitchy one. And I'm obsessed. You should also know our tree barely fits in here. Scrape the top, how to cut it off. It's like a 10 foot tree fit in eight and a half foot ceilings. So yeah, she's shmooshed into back. And we also had to, like, shove her a little bit more

2:52.2

in the corner so we could even open up our back porch door. So that's where we're at. I'm looking at

2:58.1

my tree right now, and I'm trying to describe it. It is little colorful icicles that I picked up
