We are your host, Kristen Walker Smith and Kelly Black.

Hey friend, it's Kristen. Grab your scriptures and let's dive into Genesis 1, verse 16.

0:15.0

On the fourth day of the creation, the gods created the sun, moon, and stars.

0:20.0

And God made two great lights, the greater light

0:22.6

to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also. From latter

0:28.0

day revelation, we know that the greater and lesser lights are the sun and the moon. Now, when I think

0:33.1

about these two lights, I'm reminded that some people conclude that members of the church worship

0:37.6

are prophets, especially Joseph Smith. However, the truth we know about the sun and the moon can

0:43.2

help clarify how we feel about our prophets. The moon doesn't create its own light. It's a reflection

0:49.2

of the light the sun has created. Similarly, a prophet is great in that he helps reflect Christ's light to the world.

0:57.6

We don't worship our prophets. We worship the Son of God, Jesus Christ. We're grateful for, and

1:02.7

we appreciate the way our prophets reflect the light of Christ, and they help us see and hear

1:06.8

and more clearly. But our worship is and always will be directed to the source of that light.

1:13.3

So the takeaway of the day in five words or less is, Christ is our light source.
