Summary

In this week’s episode, Tay sits down with celebrity hairstylist and author Chris Appleton! Chris shares what inspired him to write his book Your Roots Don’t Define You and why now felt like the right time to reflect on his past, including the challenges that shaped him long before success. He opens up about how he first found his way into hair, the moment that changed everything when he did Christina Aguilera’s hair on The Voice, and what he would tell anyone who’s afraid to chase their dreams when the odds feel stacked against them. Chris also gets deeply personal about the role fear played in his life, from the fear of disappointing the people he loved most while coming out to his ex-partner and children, to the shame he carried for years and what ultimately helped him heal. He shares what led him to a breaking point and a suicide attempt, how he found his way back, and what self-care looks like for him now.
