The mayor refused to work with me, the chief of police, publicly withdrew from various memorandums of understandings that we had.

It was a pretty intense backlash.

When people are shot and killed by police, the police write the report and say that the person

killed was a suspect.

And so the statewide victim compensation board won't provide any reimbursement for funeral expenses

or medical expenses because they're not treated as victims.

Matt and I interviewed Chesa Boudin, former district attorney for San Francisco. And I don't really want to spoil much at all.

Beyond that, you might recognize the name. You might know some stuff about him, but you likely don't

know everything and his story is just fascinating. I can't stop marveling at it. You're going to

want to hear it. There's so much there. At least say Chesa was obviously a progressive prosecutor,

and he dealt with intense resistance from the entrenched powers of San Francisco, just going to show that

no matter how quote unquote liberal a place might be, no matter how progressive a place might be,

these institutions are not. They just aren't. And so I'm so excited to hear a firsthand account

of what it's like to go against many in those institutions. You know, it's sort of like the deep
