Summary

Pete continues his series on The Emotionally Healthy Leader by sharing a sermon on Sabbath. Sabbath is God’s foundation for our work. It guards us against the powerful idol of making our work the center of meaning for our lives, protecting us from defining ourselves by our work.

Great to be with you today. Today our theme is practice Sabbath delight. Practice Sabbath delight.

0:13.0

So I'm doing a series of podcasts here on the emotionally healthy leader.

0:19.0

And again, that came out of, gosh, 26 years of lead pastoring a New Life

0:25.8

Fellowship, but eight years of thought about what really constitutes a leader who we're going to

0:30.8

call now emotionally healthy that leads from the inside out and thus bears fruit in their

And so and then what I want to do is after this foundational week on Sabbath,

1:31.3

and I pray you would listen to this, even if you do Sabbath, that you would allow some of the,

1:36.3

some of the teaching, the biblical material to deepen your understanding and enlarge, perhaps, your practice of Sabbath.

1:43.3

Sabbath is so vast.

1:46.0

I mean, it is a massive topic.

1:48.0

And so then what I want to do next week in this podcast is build on this week and talk about the frequently asked questions, the issues that we face,

1:57.0

everything from being bivocational to the issues of, you know, frequently asked questions.
