Welcome back. We're here with Turner Oads. Jonathan Lee after stage four of single track six. John, how you doing?

0:06.3

Doing well today was we're in the second half of the race now at six stages. So I started, there was a really big

0:13.1

climb that I wanted to respect and not go too hard on. Turns out I couldn't go too hard. We'll get into that

0:19.3

later. But after that, I sort of don't work in a bit and go a little bit harder, which felt pretty good. So

0:25.9

yeah, it was a good stage. It was, let's see, how long it was 21 miles, so really not that far.

0:33.7

The start of it for a while was just like a bike path. For the first, let's see, looking at the ride

0:41.0

file now. Yeah, for the first four miles, we were on pavement kind of like everyone's milder and like

0:47.2

a path. And then after four miles, then we hit a fire road and then short descent after that fire

0:54.3

road climb. And then it really, really long climb climbed about 1800 feet and super steep, super

1:02.6

loose fire road with like tons of like rain ruts and just loose rock. Really tricky climb to go up.

1:10.8

Then after that, big long descent and then some like punchier and then like a sustained this climb

1:17.7

to a fun like machine built finish. So yeah, it was a good time. Overall like elevation

1:23.4

game, we climb 4100 feet in that 21 miles. Not as technical as yesterday at all, but good fun.

1:32.4

Man, that kind of loose, like cognitively demanding climbing, I feel like just zaps me like physically too.

1:39.8

And then like, are you in the position too? Are you still kind of floating behind that lead group

1:45.7

in between everyone else? Are you feeling you have to like navigate people or are you just like alone?

1:50.3

No, alone, not having to navigate the end goodness because that would be because it's one of those

1:55.1

situations too, where like restarting would be really hard in a lot of areas on that climb, just because

2:01.7

you'd start out and just rocks would be rolling underneath your tires. So it's like all about

2:05.7

keeping momentum and kind of like doing little surges, but you also can't put out too much power.

2:10.8

Because if you do, you lose traction. So you know, if you had a higher threshold, you could probably

2:17.2

put out more power more comfortably, right? And then you could carry a bit more momentum, but even then

...
