Hey, good morning. It's Patricia Murphy. It's Tuesday. This is Seattle now. Local automotive

journalist Victoria Scott is really into cars. She loves the engineering, the sense of style, and

the feeling of freedom she has behind the steering wheel. It's a hobby associated with men and

masculinity, but Victoria wants to see a more expansive view of car nerds that includes people like

her. Fighting that stereotype is definitely difficult, but I don't think that cars have to be masculine.

I think that that's just a cultural thing that I want to change.

Victoria is a trans woman.

She's the author of a new book called We Deserve This, profiling other trans people and their

relationship to cars.
