Hey guys welcome back to the country anarchy, this year whole sector and I'm really excited about the brand that we're entering today because I think they're truly creating a new niche in the beauty industry and with all of the different categories that we hear about every day it's really hard I think as consumers to

0:16.4

Understand what they mean and where we fit in right and where we fit into all of these big boxes that are created.

0:23.1

And I think that's where I'm very interested in this brand.

0:25.8

So without further ado, I want to introduce you guys

to the founders of Clear Skin Care, Kristen and Samuel Shaw.

Welcome to the show Kristen Samuel. I'm so excited to host both of you.

0:34.6

Hi, thank you so much. Hello, good morning, thank you. We're so excited to be here.

0:39.9

Yeah, no, I'm excited to have you guys. I would love to learn more about both of you and your journey into creating clear if you can walk us down memory lane and maybe share that whole process with us.

0:49.6

Yeah, we would love to. So actually the process for Clear began back in 2014. I was pregnant with my first child and during that time I was on the market for that clean stretch mark cream so I became more

1:06.5

mindful during that time about what I was putting in and on my body and during that time I was scavenging the aisles of beauty products and couldn't find any

1:18.3

stretch of art cream that was clean or didn't have fragrance in it and also they were so expensive. During that time I

started formulating with my mother-in-law who is an esthetician and has been in the industry for over two decades and we were just

mixing butters at home and then very soon after that we realized that if we were really serious about taking something to market that we needed to get a chemist involved.

1:48.4

And at that time we reached out to a chemist. She had previous experience with L'Oreal and she was out in Vermont. We formulated a fantastic stretchmark cream with her, but as life would have it, my husband was going through nursing school and then we had our baby and so the whole.

2:09.0

Yeah, so everything kind of got put on hold during that time. It wasn't until 2020 when the pandemic hit and just like many other people time kind of slowed down for us and we were able to pick back up on this

2:25.7

gang care journey. Yeah that's really cool that you guys really had like this need

2:30.3

that you're trying to fill it's interesting you mentioned stretch marks because a while ago like a few years ago my brother actually asked me about do you know anything that is out there for stretch marks and I remember distinctly being like no you know like there's not yeah yeah exactly

2:48.0

actually we thought about that too in that time frame we had my husband included men who want structural cream for several different reasons to even muscle growth so it was definitely in need.

3:01.0

This was kind of before clean beauty had really blown up, you know, back in that time, but then we kind of put it on the back burner until 2020.

3:10.7

No, I mean, I think that there's definitely a need in the industry like, you know, I said this a little bit in the intro was, you know, and I think there's a need to really define the categories that we have right now in this space, you know, because I think that a lot of consumers, like they want to find what's best for them and say, for example, natural beauty or clean beauty, but it's just, those are very broad terms at this point in my opinion you know and so like I just think a lot of people like they get lost and they they don't know if it's a fit for them because I think the names also don't really

resonate anymore.

3:45.8

I mean for me I know like a while ago like maybe five six years ago I would look at
