Summary

Manchester United will face Nottingham Forest at Old Trafford this Sunday and there should be a good feeling about the place. Results have been close to perfect under Michael Carrick and we understand the club's executive team will recommend his appointment as permanent head coach.

So, hopefully Carrick will be staying on, but Casemiro will say a fond farewell to the home crowd after four emotionally charged seasons. The Brazil captain has shown admirable qualities to weather various storms and is arguably having his best spell as he prepares to leave.

Long before that, almost as this podcast goes out, we'll know how the U18s have fared in the FA Youth Cup final. It's a first Manchester derby since 1986 and controversy around the late change of venue adds an extra spice to an already interesting match-up; winning would represent a real achievement for United in English youth football's highly competitive environment.

Laurie, that Michael Carrick is being recommended for the permanent head coach's role at Manchester United. Yeah, it is, I think, a moment of significance because it's been the

1:20.1

big question, hasn't it, up until this point? Will United continue with Michael Carrick?

1:24.8

Will they, you know, go for for somebody else they've obviously been sounding

1:27.5

out other candidates and been weighing it up up to this point and a decision I think was

1:31.4

intended to happen at the end of the season but I think the reality you know has become clearer

1:37.1

and with Michael Carrick qualifying United for the Champions League places that subject I think is

something that everybody recognises needs to be addressed. So, yeah,

I think that's the anticipation. And then you're into contract talks with Carrick and then also, you know, the wider staff. But mainly it's Carrick's the primary focus in terms of can they get a deal to see him last at Old Trafford and become, you know, the manager, head coach on a permanent
