This is CBS in the world I'm John Bachelor. I welcome Conrad Black, distinguished

biographer writing his column at the National Post, about the evening of October 15th in

North York, the North York Municipal Emphy theater, addressing the Canadian Anti-Semitism

Education Foundation.

Conrad Yur column is inspirational because we're looking at the Jews of North America

right now have reason to doubt even North America because of the existential contest in the Middle East.

Did you sense the room was in some fashion anxious, or were they confident that Canada and the

United States stand with the Jewish people?

I think they're confident that the majorities in Canada in the US are fair-minded, decent

people who are not anti-Semitic. in the problems on the campuses in both countries where there have been a great deal of anti-Semitic

incidents, not much violence, but insults and graffiti and so on and and of course the performance of

those university presidents when they appeared at the congressional committee I think they've all been sacked now, but it was

a shocking, absolutely shocking for you hear these people say that calling for the destruction of the Jews might or might not be acceptable.

So I think that like myself is a non-jue. I am shocked at the extent of just that kind of anti-Semitism

in our society. I don't have the view that, excuse me, that that represents a majority view at all, but it is so

prominent and so obvious that it's worrisome.
