This is CBSI on the world. I'm John Batchel. I welcome my colleague Conrad Black,

distinguished biographer writing his column for the National Post. The Canadian election is

concluded with Mr. Carney retaining the premiership, head of the Liberal Party. However, there

are details here about a parliamentary government that

Conrad has agreed to help me with because I didn't get this in school. Conrad, a very good evening to you.

One king for Great Britain, for Canada, for New Zealand, for Australia. Good. I got that right. But when it comes to a minority government,

I fall apart. Mr. Carney does not have a majority of the votes in your parliament. Therefore,

he has what is called a minority government. Congratulations to the liberals. But what does that

mean when it comes to legislation? Controversial legislation or

agreed upon legislation? Good evening to you. Yeah, good evening to you, John. Well,

remember the outgoing parliament, Justin Trudeau's government, he didn't have a majority either,

but what he did have was a deal with the so-called new Democratic Party. Why

they call themselves New Democrats, a party that was founded 64 years ago, I don't know, but that's

what they do. And it lost most of its members of parliament. It's a socialist party, but very much

a democratic party.

They're not communist or anything like that.

But in the previous parliament, they were a substantial number of members of parliament,

and they made a policy agreement with the liberals,

and they put through their joint program,

and I thought so the government

was stable and didn't have to worry about every vote in parliament.

I don't, in theory, the same thing would be done again because even though they lost
