December 22nd, 1941.

Winston Churchill arrives at the White House.

He's going to stay a few days. He's greeted, of course by

Eleanor. FDR picked him up as he arrived in town by airplane. He had crossed the Atlantic and then flown from the port,

across the Atlantic at a warship and flown from the port to Washington.

Eleanor expects him to want the Lincoln bedroom to stay overnight.

He tries all the beds and decides it's the rose bedroom for him, it's the softest bed.

That is Winston Churchill.

Now, why was he there?

Conrad, a very good evening to you. Why was Churchill at the White House on December 22nd?

He's at war. What's he doing leaving London?

Why was he there for 22 more days?

What did he and FDR accomplish?

Well, as you know, the attack on Pearl Harbor

was on December 7.

And then for reasons that have never been explained

Hitler took it upon himself to declare war on the United States on December 10

in Roosevelt's war message the day of States on December 10.
