Steele, part of the conversation about tariffs these last months.

And I learned from Mary Anastasio Grady writing the America's column for the Wall Street

Journal editorial page,

that steel is a major story between Canada and the United States to do with tariffs.

It also includes Mexico in this mix because these are our two strongest trading partners.

But steel is of great interest to me because Mary's identified one kind of steel that Canada

produces that is necessary for carports and garage doors. It's called thin gauge steel and it's

vital for the U.S. to be able to import this without adding costs. However, Mary, a very good evening to you. Identify

David McCall, president of the United Steelworkers. That's a big union. And he came out April

2nd with the coterminus of the Liberation Day, so-called, saying that he wanted the 25% tariffs on imports reversed for Canada.

Why? What does this mean for his union? What does it mean for steelmaking in Canada and America?

Good evening to you. Well, good evening, John. Yes, April 2nd, David McCall made that statement.

He actually was talking about a resolution that had been passed in the Senate, a bipartisan resolution,

calling for those 25% tariffs on Canada, not just steel, but on Canadian content, to be lifted.

And I think the reason is pretty obvious.

I mean, the United Steelworkers are an international union.

They have lots of members across the border.

And all their members are harmed by these steep tariffs.

And, of course, when Donald Trump raised it again to 50% on steel,

they squealed even louder. They say that the tariffs are needless and that they're harming
