Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

Why do we pray to the Saints? One thing the Catholic Church is known for is encouraging devotion to the Saints.

We have long litanyes asking the Saints to pray for us. We have no venas and special

devotions. There's St Anthony for finding things and St Joseph for buying or

selling the house. In fact, a good friend of mine, sister Josephine from the

little sisters of the poor, she gave me a little statue of St Joseph to carry in my pocket to remind me to go to him.

And then I lost St Joseph.

So I prayed to St Anthony to find Saint Joseph. And then there's your favorite,

Saint Jude, for impossible causes. But why? Why don't we just go straight to Jesus? Do we think Jesus can't hear us? Or do we

think we need to get a group of committed lobbyists up in heaven so that even if the Lord doesn't want to answer

our prayers, he'll feel bullied it by all these folks hassling him on our behalf, so he'll finally break down and give us what we want?

That doesn't sound right, does it?

But then why do we invoke the Saints?

Our Father who art in heaven,

Hallow would be your name,

Thy kingdom come, thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as we forgive those who trespass

against us and lead us not into temptation but deliver us from evil
