Welcome to our daily rosary meditation. Let's begin in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit.

Amen. Let's call to mind all those we've promised to pray for.

So we're in this time from November 5th to December 8th, these 33 days where we're getting to know Jesus

and Mary better in preparation to consecrate or re-consecrate ourselves to Jesus through Mary on the Feast of

the Immacula Conception.

So thank you for joining us.

Now, Genesis chapter 3, verse 15 is one of the most important passages in the Bible.

The scene is the Garden of Eden just after the fall.

Satan in the form of the Serpent has brought about the downfall of the human race and now God

addresses the serpent now God speaks directly to the devil and this is what he

says I will put enmity between you and the

woman and between your seed and hers she will crush your head while you strike at her heel.

Now modern versions of the Bible translate this last line with he will crush your head but the Hebrew word is ipsa she she will

crush your head.

And this is the way St Jerome, Augustine, John Chrysostom, St Ambrose, Gregory the Great, and others translated it.

But I guess they were not as smart as modern scholars,

especially St Jerome, who became a master at Hebrew in the Holy Land.

In those few words, the Lord declares that Satan and sin and death will be defeated.

They will not have the last word. They will not be victorious. And they will be

defeated by the woman and her son. Jesus and Mary.

Our Father who art in heaven, Hallow would be your name, Thy kingdom come thy will be done on earth as it is in heaven.

Give us to stay our daily bread and forgive us our trespasses, as be free of those who trespass against us and lead us not into temptation
