It is a very dark Monday here where I'm at. Here in the Northern Hemisphere, we are about to reach the darkest part of the darkest season of the year, which means the days are very short right now.

The nights are very long.

There's very little daylight.

And we're creeping closer and closer to that time of the year where the day is at its

absolute shortest.

And this week here in Sweden, where I am, we have one of our biggest and most cherished holidays,

one of our biggest traditions that we celebrate throughout the year, which is Santa Lucia

on December 13th, so this weekend coming up, which is a really ancient holiday.

It's sort of a merge between pre-Christian times, the solstice holidays that were

celebrated back in the pagan times, combined with folklore from really, really long time ago.

And then Christianity came along and brought in the story of St. Lucia or St. Lucie, who was a martyr from the 4th century,

so a very long time ago. And essentially, what this day is for us, it's about bringing light

into the deepest dark, about finding a way and a reason to celebrate and bring light into these dark times

through literally light lighting candles and fires and through song and through joy
