On this episode, we have a conversation

where as an Islam, the incredible author and commentator,

we talk about religion and the role that religion plays

in politics, in social justice, and in community.

Religion isn't about God.

That religion is first and foremost a matter of identity,

and it's a matter of identity far more than it is a matter of beliefs and practices.

When someone says, I'm a Muslim or I'm a Christian or I'm a Jew,

they're not making a faith statement.

They're making an identity statement.

And we have the news, as always.

It's me, Brittany Clint and Sam talking about what's going on in the world.

Extraordinarily high rates of lead toxicity.

It is a source of ecological inequity by race and a pathway through which

racial inequality literally gets into the body.

And that in some communities, they found rates of lead toxicity

in black and Hispanic neighborhoods with prevalence rates topping 90%.

Before we jump in, I've been thinking a lot about self-care recently.

People use that term a lot.

People ask me, what is my self-care and what do I do and how do I think about it?

And I've not always had a good way internally that I've even been thinking about it.
