0:55.8	with everything that's that's going on so um Alex and Amner we'll start with just a bit of back story
1:02.0	Alex tell us who on earth you are and why on earth you're here so I'm Alex Carter I am a philosopher
1:09.3	from Cambridge I'm a Vic and Schindianian um that means that I am a philosopher from Cambridge, I'm a Wittgen-Schindian.
1:11.6	That means that I am someone who thinks that most philosophical problems are solved by thinking about language.
1:17.6	And of course, AI is based largely around large language models,
1:21.6	so I have an interest in what AI is and what AI is not,
1:26.6	and why it's different from what human beings are capable of.
1:30.1	My background is philosophy, largely, but also ancient history.
1:34.4	When I was school age, when I was at a school like this one, I wasn't that interested in philosophy.
1:39.6	I didn't really get engaged with it that much.
1:41.8	But questions like, does God exist? Is there truth?
