Welcome to Karen Hunter is awesome. I am Karen Hunter and I host a radio show on SiriusXM, Urban View, Channel 126, where talking powers and becomes action. And some people may look at the show and say,

well, I've heard this a lot. You talk about race all the time. Why do you talk about race? I would

love nothing better than to never talk about race. Unfortunately, we don't talk enough about race,

not in the way that we really need to. And I believe that race is a made-up construct. And it's not just my belief.

It's scientifically proven. We're all human beings. We're all the same species. We are all the same

people with different experiences, backgrounds. We make our rights differently, but we're all the

same. And it is a power dynamic that has made us see one

another as different to the point that people are willing to kill, steal, destroy, to make sure that

they stay at the top of the food chain as opposed to, as I believe everyone should get to live

their most free versions of themselves. That requires something of each of us to make space for other people.

Every now and then I'm going to get a phone call from somebody who wants to beat this

drum around superiority.

You know, oftentimes they'll call and they'll say, as a white man or as a white woman,

and I always challenge, what does it mean to be be white and that sends them on a tizzy because most people can't really define

what it means they'll usually throw it back what does it mean to be black well black is juxtaposed

to whiteness in this power dynamic so I can tell you what it means to be black but really

what they're saying is and this is what I'm hearing,

is I don't feel valued. So the only value I have is in this thing called whiteness. So I have to

pile all of the things, whether it's the founding of humanity or the first fire and all. I have to

pile all of this into this thing because that's my identity and I have nothing

without it.

And my job, my thing is to dismantle all of that because you are something without that.
