IRS agent Brendan Banfield is charged with aggravated murder for the February 2023 killings of his wife, Christine, and a man named Joseph Ryan.

Both were killed inside the Banfield's

Herndon, Virginia home. Prosecutors alleged that Brendan Banfield orchestrated the killings

to conceal his affair with the family's Brazilian opair, Juliana Magalise. They say

Banfield impersonated his wife on a fetish website,

catfishing Joseph Ryan into believing that Christine wanted him to sneak into her house

to play out a rape fantasy with a knife. According to the O'Pair testimony, Banfield shot Ryan and then stabbed Christine

while staging the scene to look like a home invasion.
