visiting American doctoral student in the summer of 1983. Timothy Shalame stars as Elio Perlman,

the precocious son of an intellectual couple who spends his days reading books, transcribing music,

and gnawing on fruit from the family orchard. Army Hammer plays Oliver, a 24-year-old student who's in Italy for a summer internship

with Elio's father, a professor of archaeology played by Michael Stoolbarg.

Elio and Oliver develop a friendship that steadily grows into a much more profound intimacy.

The only problem is that summer ends, and what do you do with those feelings once it does?
