So the question I keep getting is how to choose a mantra or what book or books should I read to understand mantra better.

And I thought I'd answer that question for everyone here and give you a little bit of backstory on how I chose my mantra or how it chose me.

And I'll do my best to keep this episode short because you know I can talk about mantras all day.

So books, Ramdass's, Polishing the Mirror was one of the first books I read in 2013 before like the other 600.

And it was one of the last books I read like where I feel like where my journey kind of ended with the incessant reading.

So it's like the first and the last and I reread it on my way on my first trip to Maui last year in July. I reread it on the plane.

If you want to listen to it by the hard copy, just to have it so you can hold it close to your heart after you read a page that really resonates.

The other book I recommend if you are new to this would be a mantra handbook, a practical guy to choosing your mantra and calming your mind.

And this is from Ekna, Eswan, Eswan.

He has one of the most popular translations of the Bhagavad Gita period like to date.

So if you recognize the name, I'm sorry if I mispronounced it, that's why he did that. He translated the Upanishads. He's done a lot of work in the spiritual space.

And I just came across this book in the last year and it's good. I didn't read it cover to cover, but he does a really good job at breaking down the meaning of mantra and sharing.

Monchress from different traditions, everything from Christianity to Hinduism to Buddhism to even mantras from the Sikh tradition and the Jewish tradition.

So you can really dive in and browse. You can window shop until you find exactly what feels good to you. And that's a thing.

Like I have chanted many different mantras over the year and let me clarify when I say chant generally speaking, I am not doing like Tina Turner. This is one of Yal's questions. That's the only experience you've had with seeing a chant or mantra being chanted was on what's love got to do with it.

So I am not most of the time 99% of the time I am not chanting out loud the only time I chant out loud and it's not very loud is when my mind is so busy that it's hard to focus on the chanting.

And so the internal chanting of the mantra is being drowned out by this whatever craziness is going on in my mind.

So I start saying it out loud to calm the mind so I can go back in and start saying it inside and just focusing on hearing it inside and filling it inside.
