I'm Jolenta Greenberg, a comedian and culture critic, and I will be serving as your reality TV dramaturg.

A dramaturg is a researcher that gives background information on a theatrical production and helps put dramatic pieces of work

into cultural context. And a reality TV dramaturg does just that for reality TV because it is

real art too. It is storytelling, just like every other form of entertainment. And the characters and

storylines that we see on reality TV aren't any trashier than ones in great films or great

works of theater. They're just different. They have a different aesthetic. They have a different

look. They have a different delivery. But they are no less legitimate. So let's talk about them like

they are real pieces of entertainment,

especially because reality TV is often labeled as like brain rot and women's TV,

like women's brain rot.
