Summary

I've just finished reading The Courage to Be Disliked by Ichiro Kishimi and Fumitake Koga so thought this Bullet Points could be a book review of sorts. I've summarised what I think they key takeaways are and how I think it can be helpful and if you'd like to me to do something similar/the same for another book, let me know by emailing me at office@emmaguns.com

Hello, hi and welcome to another episode of The Emma Gunn Show and a midweek installment of bullet points. Oh, I do like saying that again.

0:17.3

This will have cropped up on your feed on perhaps a day when you aren't expecting it, but bullet points I'm trying to bring it back slowly.

0:23.4

Well, not slowly, but just as in when there's something interesting to say.

0:26.0

And actually, I thought this was worth a short episode, a short little bit of your day to just talk about a book that I have just read.

0:34.6

And the reason why I wanted to bring this up is because I have, over the

0:38.2

last six months to a year, really taken a step back from reading, consuming too many things,

0:48.9

having interviewed so many authors and read so many books. I think I sort of read myself into an overflow. I was at maximum

0:59.0

capacity for all of these different ideas, ideals, philosophies, all of these different things.

1:05.4

And they were beginning to get jumbled up into one. And actually, I think they had started to become meaningless because there is,

1:15.8

maybe there's nothing new in this space that I was looking in. And so everything felt

1:22.7

slightly regurgitated, slightly, oh, well, this did well for this person, so let me just use that and leverage it

1:29.2

for my own needs wants and fame. And I just sort of, yeah, we've been through this before I found

1:34.7

a bit tacky. Anyway, for some reason, I was turned to think, actually I'm going to download this

1:42.0

book. And it was actually Jamie Genevieve,

1:45.0

the makeup artist and brand owner who mentioned it on her Instagram stories and I really like

1:49.6

Jamie I think she's going places I mean she's really good she is really going places she's

1:55.2

I think only just 30 but her business is absolutely thriving she's like Forbes 30 under 30 or was Forbes 30 under 30

2:02.9

um she is just she is one of those people who has had an idea turned it into something real and

2:09.8

it is just gathering a pace and I look at that and I think wow that looks so impressive I'm so

2:15.3

impressed by you and so when she shares a book, I think, okay,

2:19.3

if this is a component part of the momentum of your success, then I want a piece of that action.

2:25.7

So I thought, okay, I'm going to download that book. You know that feeling where you see somebody
