Welcome to the Boneyard with Steve Robertson as always. I am your good friend and host Steve Robertson here on the hump day Edition of the yard a little bit later and I wanted to be, but I've been chasing info for you That's part of the deal. It's tough recording back-to-back days. I'll be honest with you all not Brian does it I really don't and Ravi of course too, but it's one of those things man my show is a little bit longer, but the reality of it is it's tough. Back-to-back days because you think, okay, I covered this yesterday. I got to give people something fresh. So I've got you a new update on your pitching code search. I've already shared most of this over on a jeans page.com message boards. And's the thing too you know we're going to do our

0:37.7

best anytime that we have information about something is sensitive we're going to go there with it

0:42.2

first we're going to write our article we're going to put on the message board so if you want to stay

0:45.7

up to date on all the goings on at mississippi state when it comes to athletics jeanspage.com

0:51.4

is the way to go so a lot has happened There are some still things to happen. We're not quite there yet in our first segment of show. I'm going to update you on what I've learned, what I think is going to happen, and what you need to be prepared for. But it is still very much a process. I've got a lot of faith in Chris and Monas. I know many of you don't. I still do. And I know that Chris is out there working diligently to find the right pitching coach to help turn this thing around. And here's the reality guys. Pitching wasn't our only problem. It was our biggest problem, but it wasn't our only problem. But it all starts pitching. I know some other people say, Steve, I mean, come on,

1:27.9

that's not true. No, it's true. It all works hand in hand. We had some bad defense, especially on the

1:33.0

left side, and that in turn makes pitchers have to work longer and harder. And the more pitches

1:38.3

you throw, the more likely you are to make a mistake. And when we did, we paid for it more

1:43.5

times than not. But yeah, we know it some times, too,

1:46.2

that our clutch hitting gene kind of disappeared. So we got other problems. But the first step in our

1:51.4

recovery process is to identify and hire the best pitching coach possible and allow him to work

1:58.0

in concert with our returning pitchers and our incoming pitchers to get this thing turned around.

2:03.4

So, again, that's not the only problem, but it is the biggest problem and the first step we need to take as a program.

2:10.9

That is top of the to-do list.

2:13.8

And in the middle of all this, your coaches are on the road out seeing portal prospects

2:18.9

and they're up in the Cape and things like that and going out and see summer baseball,

2:22.8

trying to identify some players and come in here and make a difference for you. So there's

2:28.9

no rest for the weary, shall we say. That's SEC baseball, man. That's how it is. Everybody else

2:34.0

is out there getting ready to

2:35.0

play in Omaha, some of our contemporaries, some teams that we don't like, some teams that we beat, some teams that beat us. They're out there getting ready to play. And like all of you, it stinks, man. It just does. I'm just like you. It really, really irritates me that we're not playing right now. It does. But the reality of it is, this is where we are. And we can sit around and say, hey, we should make a coaching change. We should do this, you know, whatever. You know, we should put bully up for adoption. All those things don't matter anymore. They don't. That's not to say that you're not entitled to think that.

3:08.2

I mean, there are a lot of things that I think I don't share. But the reality of it is,

3:12.2

is we have made a decision as a university and as an athletic department.
