Summary

My guest this week is Nancy Bandzuch, host of the Catholic Sprouts podcast for kids. She and her husband have been hard at work creating a brand new resource for Catholic families -- the Domestic Church Project. This project is a 6-week program to help young families have real conversations about their faith and answer kids’ questions as together they build their domestic church. If you are not even sure what that means, this program is for you! It’s for Catholic families of all different experiences and backgrounds. It was so innovative, in fact, that it won this year’s OSV Catholic Innovation Challenge. Nancy shares about the need for a program like this one, especially in the age of Covid when many religious education programs are no longer meeting in person. You can learn more about this new project and how your family can benefit from it at DomesticChurchProject.com. Snippet From the Show "Catholic parents must learn to form their family as a "domestic Church", a church in the home as it were, where God is honored, his law is respected, prayer is a normal event, virtue is transmitted by word and example, and everyone shares the hopes, the problems and sufferings of everyone else. "- Pope St. John Paul II For episode shownotes, text GIRLFRIENDS to 33-777 or visit www.ascensionpress.com/girlfriends.

0:09.8

Hey, girlfriends, welcome. How are you? I hope you are enjoying a good Thanksgiving week. I was going to

0:17.8

record a podcast about gratitude, but then when I went through and was looking

0:21.8

at my notes from previous shows, I've covered gratitude a lot. And that's not because, so I'm not

0:28.0

going to skip it because it's not important for sure. One of the things I most want to say

0:32.7

inside of this show is that this year at Thanksgiving, I am grateful for you. Thank you for showing up here.

0:39.4

Thank you for all the ways you encourage and support what I do here at Girlfriends. You're the reason I do

0:44.5

this. You're the reason I'm here. And I am grateful for your presence here. But this week,

0:49.1

I'm going to be sharing a conversation that I recently had with Nancy Banzuch, who is working on a domestic church project

0:55.8

that you're going to want to know more about. But speaking of domestic church, before I share

1:01.5

my conversation with Nancy, I want to make sure that you are aware of the amazing resources that

1:07.9

are available for kids from Ascension Press. So I'm always telling you to go over to

1:13.7

ascensionpress.com for the girlfriend's show notes. Well, now they've got some great kids projects

1:19.5

that you're going to want to be checking out. The first one is an interactive mass book,

1:24.4

which is like a board book. And this is exactly the thing that you need. It's if you've got a

1:30.0

kid who's antsy at church, I hear from moms all the time who are like, should I have a mass

1:33.7

kit? What should I give them to do? Are toys a bad idea in the pew during Mass and all of this?

1:39.5

But this is a great book because it's an interactive book and it's a board book.

1:44.4

So it's really meant for even very small kids to be able to turn the wheels and lift the flaps.

1:52.0

And meanwhile, learn about what the mass is and what the church is.

1:55.9

It's written by a Catholic mom, so fully getting it, right?

1:59.8

It's also available in Spanish.
