The song we're gonna talk about today is called Bright Sadness and I'll start by telling you a little bit about the title

Bright sadness was inspired by a chapter in Richard Roer's book Falling Upward

I was reading it around the time of writing this song and I just thought the idea of something being bright and sad at the same time

It's something that really resonated with me

But beyond thinking it was a beautiful idea

I hadn't really thought much about it and several days later I was working on this song in my studio and

my wife Kate watched in the room and

noted that this song sounded bright to her and I was like oh really and she's like well, it still sounds sad

So it's sort of a bright sad song and I thought that is just too synchronicity to ignore and I decided to call this song

Bright sadness and at that point I hadn't yet finished the lyrics or even had the experience that the song ended up being

entirely about which I will
