This podcast is an absolute joy to get to make because it gives me the honor of sharing all that goes into my music and everything that I'm making.

Today is all about a brand new song of mine called Some Kind of Heaven.

This song belongs to an unexpected collection of songs that I'm calling Mother, which were written in the aftermath of my mom's passing when you're a go.

But these songs are how I grieve, cope, process and hopefully heal.

And so these episodes about these particular songs are definitely a huge part of that process for me.

And to be able to get to openly share my experience or my wrestling with grief and all that comes with it, I just am really, really grateful.

So much of this stuff is really hard to talk about, but it also feels really good to put some of the feelings of grief into words in addition to music.

And I hope that somehow in this process, if you've also experienced grief, we can feel a little less alone together.

The song that I have the pleasure of introducing you to today is called Some Kind of Heaven.

Though each of these new mother songs, especially are me wearing my feelings on my sleeve, well, all of the sleeping and last music is definitely that way.

But this song in particular, this is maybe my most direct and vulnerable in terms of the lyrics.

Once I finish writing this song and recording it, I was listening back on the final mix.

And I realized that anyone who hears this song will know exactly what it feels like to be my therapist.

Very serious, actually, because every lyric in the song refers to something I have processed out loud in therapy.

And kind of unintentionally, you, the listener, get to be my therapist every time you hear this song.
